Washington National Cathedral.

To start the day today we went to the Washington National Cathedral. I was breathtaking in beauty. It was also very sad at the same time.  Remember about a year ago when Washington had the earthquake. Well the Cathedral unfortunately was one of three landmarks in the area that sustained significant damage. They are currently working on trying to fix all of the damage places from the earthquake that is why in all of my pictures you see the tops or the Buttress are missing, they have all been taken down because they are going to reinforce them all so in case something like this would happen again then none of them would get damaged.

Arlington National Cemetery.

After the memorial we went to the cemetery. It was so moving. Always remembering the fallen soldiers for our country. We also got to see the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.

And We are Off.

Today we started our Washington DC adventure. We left Des Moines bright and early this morning. We had to be up and at the airport at 4:45am. Ekkk! Anyway after we got going and got to DC with all of our bags – we had 5 large ones, 1 computer carry on, 1 small carry on and 3 purses for 5 people – that’s SEVEN bags total and 3 purses. They were all underweight and passed security! We tried to check in to the hotel however we couldn’t (and the front desk people are not the nicest in the world) so we let our DC adventures begin.

July 4th.

I had to work that morning, but after we were able to celebrate the holiday with some family friends. We went out to Lake  Panorama. We were able to float on the lake, tube, grill out, and just spend some good time with some great friends. We were also able to see some fireworks, and make friends with people across the lake! Thank you for the great memories Swett family.
