Ft. Knox

On our way up to National Park in Maine we made a pit stop at Ft. Knox. It is amazing something built so long ago is still in such good condition. We were able to walk around all over the Fort and see how they used to live so long ago.

Mt. Battie

We drove to the the top of Mt. Battie in the morning. It had great views of Camden and the bay. Mt. Battie is the second location the sun hit the USA on the east cost.

Bed and Breakfast

We stayed at our first bed and breakfast this past week. It was in Camden. The house was great and almost everything they served us for breakfast came out of their garden and that they picked that morning fresh. I will say it was an experience and we will more than likely stick with our Hilton property but we still had a great time staying there.

Whale Watching

We were able to head out to sea and watch whales in the ocean. It was a hour plus boat ride out and back so you can imagine how far out we were off the coast of Maine. We were able to see about six wales, it was amazing! Really something you can only imagine you would be able to see. We were very lucky to have great weather so they were very active and wanted to come up and play!

Lobster Cruise

What is Maine without seeing some Lobster's being caught in the traps because they are the state known for their Lobsters?! We got to go on cruise and we were able to hold one and see how they were caught. We also just swung by Former President Bush's home.

LL Bean

Vacation is the best place to try new things that you would never think you would do. I did just that. At LL Bean we went kayaking. They take you out to a working farm, get you fitted in a life vest and use their equipment and off you go. Kevin and I went in a tandem (one built for two people) the instructors call it a divorce boat when a couple gets in however Kevin and I did a great job. We did have our moments, not going to kid you, however for it being our first time, we were able to keep up with the group and did not go in circles and kind of make it look like we knew what we were doing. We are even thinking about getting one to have so when we are back home we can take it out to Grays Lake and use it. Here is to many more hopeful adventures on the kayak.

Lighthouse Tour

To start our adventures around Maine we went on a Lighthouse Tour. We got to see 5 lighthouses and we also got to get a cookie from the SCRATCH Baking Co.
Most amazing lighthouse I have ever seen!
